Sangyo corporation

Sangyo has passed the blacksmithing techniques that once flourished in Tomo on to the current day. Now they put these skills to try new challenges, such as using techniques once used to forge anchors to make furniture. The room keys and room signs at our inn were all free forged by Sangyo.

Mr.Atsushi ukunaga

The art in the tokonoma, the alcove in the feature wall, was created by Fukunaga Atsushi of Hiroshima Prefecture. The materials used to create these pieces are mainly repurposed furniture from ships. Fukunaga’s concepts and new expressions draw in a modern atmosphere to all of the rooms.

Hangi

Tomonoura flourished as a port where ships would wait for a good tide. As a result, many people, products and cultures have mixed in the town. This printing block was discovered in a warehouse of the Sawamura Marine Equipment Store and is a testament to the vibrant commerce and goods distribution of times past.
